Postcrossing: I achieved my top 200 goal!

I made the top 200!

I've been nursing a silly little goal for a while now, and I finally achieved it: I have made the top 200 Postcrossing senders in the USA (by sent number, not by distance yet).

There are a LOT of high-volume Postcrossers in the USA, so this is a happy achievement for me. It's a little discouraging when I send to or receive from a user in another country who's sent fewer postcards than I have but is in their own country's top 10 or top 50... but really, why am I so competitive?

Anyway, January was a fun month for Postcrossing.

Incidentally, yet another new-to-mail-and-mail-blogging enthusiast has declared this month - February 2012 - a month of letters. She's getting some killer publicity (the Guardian??) and has a lovely website and Twitter feed. I'm participating by default - I pretty much send a piece of mail every day - but do check out Lettermo.com.

Happy Mail Day

I had a quiet little goal of writing 10 pieces of mail today, and I did it! Granted, 7 are postcards and 3 are letters, but still... and it's not even midnight yet.

I hope everyone had a great, mail-filled weekend! And for those of us in the USA, Tuesday's incoming mail should be extra-bulky because of the Monday holiday.

March Madness goal reached!

Remember my little March Madness goal to write 100 pieces of mail by April? I just did it! The 100th piece is freshly completed and addressed.

I'm thrilled to have reached my goal in less than 5 weeks - almost a whole week early by the April 1 deadline - and I'm going to go ahead and track the stats until April 1 just for the heck of it. Just for posterity's sake, the stats as of this moment are 63 letters and 37 postcards.

Just had to share the fun news!

(Don't ask me to count the items in my letter pile, though, OK? Because I've probably received just as many as I've written this month...)

I failed, but I failed well

I had large chunks of time today, and they were blocked out for letter-writing. My lofty goal was to write 10 letters, and I failed... but I wrote 9, and they were 9 good ones. And now I'm exhausted (only 5.25 hours of sleep last night, so on a bit of a deficit) and must sleep, but I'm still feeling good about the 9 letters I wrote.

What a lovely feeling, addressing that envelope with individually selected stamps, and seeing it waiting by the door to begin its journey tomorrow...
