Bright birthday card + Gelly roll moonlight pen

IMG_8446crop

I sent a birthday card to a friend at camp. I wanted to make sure the envelope was nice and bright and cheery. It was fun to decorate. I save these Beaker muppet stamps for special occasions, of course.

Are you wondering about that BRIGHT pink ink? I would be. I am loving it - it comes from my new Sakura Gelly Roll Moonlight gel ink pen from JetPens. They call this color "fluorescent vermilion orange" but it looks more pink to me. I guess it depends on the light. Anyway, it POPS off of both dark and light colors, and I believe it's waterproof. Apparently it glows under a black light, too, and best of all, it dries pretty quickly. I bought this pen in red, too, and now I'm considering getting a lot more colors. They write really well on postcards, and always look really bright. I realize I didn't take any photos of the pen itself, but let's consider this a mini-review: I love this pen and highly recommend it.

Penvelope

Penvelope

This correspondent remembered my love of (and devotion to) fountain pens, and made this fantastic handmade envelope.

Penvelope back

In fact, they're all vintage fountain pens. Swoon!

Looking at them makes me want to pick up one of my fountain pens and go write a letter right now.

Meta mail art: a pen and ink collage

Pen and ink collage card

Just another gorgeous piece of mail art from Carroll. She wrote more about it here. I think everything she makes is amazing, and I am lucky to receive her art.

Pen packaging

Swap a pen packaging

I participated in a Pen Swap on Swap-bot recently, and I decorated the package to match the contents.

Well, okay, I didn't send an antique fountain pen like this, but I did send a fountain pen.

Wow! Now! Paper Mate Ops 'n Pops are here!

Wow! Now! Paper Mate Ops 'n Pops are here!

This fab vintage advertisement poster photocopy came from blog reader George over at My Supply Room. Thanks, George - this is a total gem! He said he can remember these fashions, oh so 60s.

(To get a closer view at all these dancing pen folks, view large.)

I can't decide what I should do with it - make a special envelope? Use the pen dancers as graphics? In any case, I am tickled with the fun vintage gift.

My beloved Parker 51

My Parker 51

This is a photo I didn't actually intend to take - I had laid my camera down on the table while I was photographing a letter, and I liked the picture that was on the screen. So I pressed the shutter. I kinda dig this angle.

My Parker 51 is one of my very favorite pens. I write many, many, many letters with it. I baby it, and only put Waterman Black in it, but it will write beautifully on any paper. Purrr. Go, P51, go!

By the way, that's my black 48-pen case on the table behind it.

MOST AMAZING pen card EVER

AMAZING pen card!!

I was just plotzing when I got this pen card from my dear friend Tracy, who continues to outdo herself with amazing cards and stationery in her letters. How gorgeous is this?? The gold accents are just over the top, as is the little-bear-playing-the-tuba sticker.

The inside of the card and the inside of the envelope had little cutie stamps, including this awesome pig-in-a-tutu.

The card says it is Turnowsky by Papyrus, but I wasn't able to find any of them anywhere online.
