Dragon seal

Dragon seal

This fine wax seal - is it a dragon or a gryphon? - came to me from a wise correspondent who puts seals on the inside of an envelope, right on the page of the letter, so that they don't get mangled in the mail sorting machines. Love this one!

  1. Looks like a gryphon to me -- loving that swirly purple!

  4. Great seal! Nice, deep relief. Some are too shallow.

By the way, today's "supple" waxes survive just fine outside the envelope.

  5. Note Booker - I don't use sealing wax myself, but I get it on a lot of letters. I'll add the caveat that most supple sealing wax survives just fine, but I still see a lot of it "flattened" or blurred by sorting machines. Depends on how thickly it's laid down, I think, but also on the whims of the sorting machine in question.
