Red Tango RainBow Kitty: Happy National Coming Out Day!

Red Tango RainBow Kitty

I haven't sent this postcard yet - I love it so much I can't quite bear to part with it yet; it comes from the Red Tango Postcard Set B at Tangoland.com.

Since it's National Coming Out Day today, it seems a perfect time to feature this awesome RainBow Kitty.

Owls for an owl

Owls for an owl

Once again we have the fabu Red Tango stationery set from the Dark Horse Comics stationery line. I just love this one so much.

On this owlish envelope, I matched some vintage owl stamps, with an American Kestrel thrown in for fowl play.

Red Tango kitty + bling

IMG_1954crop

Here's more from the Red Tango set, which is of course from the lovely Dark Horse Stationery. I love the curly-tailed cat, and I added in some Stickles glitter glue bling. Yeah, I gave the cat purple glitter eyes...

I really love the way the Marge Simpson stamp matches this.

Catty

Pre-stamped cat envelope

These pre-stamped letter-sized envelopes were a great find on eBay - I paid about face value, including shipping. Boo-yeah! I love the kittyface. Their only drawback is that they reek, positively REEK, of cigarette smoke, but hopefully by the time they reach their destination, they won't smell quite so bad. The cat face rocks.

I kind of enjoy the serendipity that this envelope was photographed very near some cat-claw marks on my own beloved table... I left those in instead of cropping 'em out. They're in the upper right-hand corner of the photo.

And by the way, what IS it with letter-writing and cats? An awful lot of my correspondents are also cat owners/lovers.

I sealed this envelope with a charming sticker by Red Tango.

More from Red Tango

My snazzy Red Tango order

Here is my snazzy box of goodness from Red Tango, aka Tangoland.com. You may remember me blogging about the delightful Red Tango set from Dark Horse stationery (see horse and green owl), but I recently discovered that the artist, Cynthia Petrovic, has her own site where she sells more good stuff. That coolio site recently had a free shipping sale, so I bought another Red Tango stationery set PLUS some cool postcards, cards and stickers. (The stickers, unfortunately, only come in the more expensive large size. I wish she had smaller stickers I could put on letters. Cynthia, are you reading this? :-) I love her style, especially her cats (which feature prominently in the cards and postcards).

Even the box it came in was cute:

Red Tango Horse

Decorated Red Tango horse envelope

Here's another lovely from Dark Horse Stationery: the Red Tango set. It's a little girly-looking for me, but I like the sass and the shape of the horse.

I used Stickles glitter glue (silver and purple) to make the front sparkle a little bit. And I couldn't resist drawing a flower on my first letter to Flower Mound, TX.

Green Owl from Red Tango

Red Tango owl envelope

One of my new favorites from the Dark Horse Comics stationery line is the Red Tango stationery set. Each designed page is a different color theme, all with kind of cute retro-type images. The cat is wonderful, too, but this green owl has to be my favorite. Maybe it's because I'm a child of the 70s, and this reminds me so much of the decorative arts from my childhood.

Fountain pen users who are wondering - it's fairly good FP paper. The coated colors make some inks play more nicely on it than others. With some pens there is bleedthrough, with others, not. My Parker 51 loaded with Waterman Black is always a safe bet on any Dark Horse papers, and that combo never bleeds through or feathers.

This went out to a LEXer (a person from The Letter Exchange, that is) who responded to my listing in the winter issue.

For anyone out there who's reading this and is a LEX member, I'm #12447. Someday (soon, really.... yeah...) I will dedicate a post to just how cool LEX is. (In the meantime, read a bit more about it here.) I'm kind of waiting to see how many more people I actually do get letters from, since I've only got one regular correspondent from that venue - but it seems like a wonderful resource so far. More to come.
