March Madness goal reached!

Remember my little March Madness goal to write 100 pieces of mail by April? I just did it! The 100th piece is freshly completed and addressed.

I'm thrilled to have reached my goal in less than 5 weeks - almost a whole week early by the April 1 deadline - and I'm going to go ahead and track the stats until April 1 just for the heck of it. Just for posterity's sake, the stats as of this moment are 63 letters and 37 postcards.

Just had to share the fun news!

(Don't ask me to count the items in my letter pile, though, OK? Because I've probably received just as many as I've written this month...)

  1. Congratulations! That's totally amazing. I should start keeping track of the number of pieces of mail I send out, just for kicks. :)

I'm curious if you track your incoming and outgoing correspondence old-school style via paper or new-school with a spreadsheet. I use Google docs spreadsheets so I can access them anywhere, but I wonder if I ought to also keep track on paper because having an electronic file of my snail mail seems hypocritical.

  2. Wow, this sounds like fun, but also expensive. I wish I would have the money to send so much stuff. But at the moment I am happy when I can send all my mail without getting a money problem :)!

Do you have a lot pen pals? Or do you write to total strangers in swaps etc. as well? :)

  3. Well done! Very impressive! My output is averaging about four letters a week at the moment, dismal!

  4. Melissa - old school paper, I have a letter journal.

Fabi - both, but mostly I just have quite a lot of pen pals!

Thanks for your well wishes, all - it's been wonderful to get back into my usual groove of letter-writing after not writing nearly as much over the winter.

  5. Congrats on reaching your goal with plenty of time to spare!! It’s very impressive!

  6. Congratulations, Ilona!! That's such an amazing achievement. I can't wait to see how much you get done by April 1. Sorry to hear your incoming pile has been just as high though. You're just too popular. ;)

All right, now I *really* want to do my own letter challenge, but I have no idea what would be a good amount for me to challenge myself with. Um. 10 letters in a month? Not at all as impressive...

  7. Wow! I am impressed and inspired.

Maybe you can share your letter journal/chart sometime. I'm experimenting in my notebooks how to track what I send and receive...haven't found a good system yet (but I'm having fun trying).

    Congrats on achieving your goal.

  8. Another country - last year I did a blog post about my letter journal. That was two letter journals ago, and my system is slightly different now - and I really should do another post about how I do things now. The difference is that I now track letters I receive as well as letters I send, and I track slightly different things on both. Yep, it's in the queue for eventual future blog posts...

  9. Woo Hoo! You are amazing! You are inspiring! You are my letter-writing hero! Congratulations!

  10. Congratulations! A goal achieved is a good thing.
