Happy New Year, dear readers!
No photos for this one, but I just had to share with you this link to the US Postal Service's stamps for 2010.
Do they do this every year? I've never seen a nice list of all the stamps for the year like this - very cool. I'm pretty psyched for that Katherine Hepburn one. Also, I know he's a cartoonist, but that Bill Mauldin stamp kind of looks like he's writing a letter, so you know I'll love that one, too!
The Washington Post has a great slide show with larger images of the stamps - also very cool.
Start your new year off "write" - go write a letter!
Oh my goodness, so excited for that Katherine Hepburn one! And also the Abstract Expressionists and Sunday Funnies look neat. Stinks you have to wait so long for them to come out. :[ Thanks for posting this Ilona! <3 <3

I agree about the wait, Lauren - I am torn between feeling impatient, and thinking that waiting is part of the fun.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I agree. Kind of like waiting for a new album or movie to come out, you know? ;]

Some of them are very nice, but I regret the lack of any serious authors, poets, singers, composers.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting!
ReplyDeleteI like the Katharine Hepburn stamp, and the butterfly stamp!
I will get the katherine Hepburn stamp and not sure of the other ones I will get but love the stamps very cool . thanks for sharing and posting this .
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the 2010 stamp preview. The Washington Post slide show is really excellent. I like the Bill Mauldin stamp best for its mix of photo and cartoon drawing. My impression is that rather than writing a letter he might be drawing, with the characters on the right representing what it is he's drawing. Maybe. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBleets, I think you're right - I'm sure he's drawing, I just like to pretend he's writing a letter. :-)
ReplyDeleteOMGOMGOMG Oscar Micheaux stamps!!! Holy awesomeness! I am so glad I got to freak out about seeing this stamp in private for the first time and not have a squealing dancing fit in front of strangers at the post office.
ReplyDeletePut me down for the Katharine Hepburn, Lunar New Year and Winslow Homer. I wonder if I can write that many letters in a year...
