Happy World Post Day!

Whaddya know? It's World Post Day! Who knew? I didn't, 'til I just read about it on the Postcrossing blog.

Universal Postal Union on World Post Day

Happy World Post Day from Postcrossing

I hear that many countries celebrate this in various ways with special postal releases, goodies from the post office, etc... but I saw nothing on the U.S. Postal service website. Do we just not play nicely with all the other countries celebrating World Post Day?

  1. I think you found out the major secret there . Our post thinks there is nothing new to do most likely . Thanks for sharing and posting this .

  2. I didn't know about this day either! Glad I stopped by and learned something new.

  3. I hadn't either heard of this, but when I now typed it in Google, I could find it in Finnish UN page!
So Happy World Post Day to you, too! :)

  4. Speaking of the postal system is anyone other then me here from Oregon and if so how are you dealing with the different routs and irregalur hours in which the mail arrives? Just curious.

  5. Hello,

I just found your blog today, just splendid!!
In France,i have recently met a department of the french post office, they try to promove the writing of letters.
I have recently open on Facebook ( 5 members ) a place, kind of think tank, to think about a co-creation, an event about writing letters, around the world, if you want to help me:
Now, the Missive Maven is in my favorites blog! and i will add a link to it from my site
    Many thanks
    Jean Elie

  6. Jean Elie - That French post office site you linked looks fantastic! I cannot read French, but snippets and the graphics give me an idea that it must be wonderful. I am playing around with Google Translator and exploring the site in some degree of translation to English - wow! I wish we had something like this. It makes me wonder if letter-writing is more common in France now than here in the USA.

I do not do Facebook (or MySpace or any social networking sites), but I wish you luck with your facebook group.

  7. Thank you for your answer, i am not sure that here in France people are writing more than before unfortunately. From what you have writen i think that you have not seen anywhere else another post subdivision like this one?
Thanks for your wishes i will let you know :-)
